Davies, Peter, Dr. PhD

Dr. Peter Davies MA, PhD graduated in engineering from Cambridge University in 1973 and did his PhD in biomedical engineering at McGill University in Canada. He then worked as a computer systems analyst before switching career to pursue an interest in Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). In 1987, he was invited to take part in a five year research project funded by the Wates Foundation to explore new ways of delivering community and primary care, including CAM. The culmination of the project in 1993 saw the joint establishment with the University of Westminster of a new academic centre, the Centre for Community Care & Primary Health. The Centre later became the School of Integrated Health and is now part of the Faculty of Science and Technology. Peter was appointed Head of School in 2000 and then Dean of School in 2005. He retired in 2013 but continues to teach and keep a strong interest in clinical audit, especially as this relates to CAM. He is a member of the international advisory board of the Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies, was Research Adviser to the Foundation for Traditional Chinese Medicine and a long-standing trustee of the Research Council for Complementary Medicine.
