Hardin Tibbs is a professional futurist with a keen interest in the nature of time and causality. Most futures and foresight techniques in use by business and government are unconsciously rooted in the Newtonian paradigm. Yet physics has moved on and, taken together, relativity and quantum theory present a very different picture of time and causality. Instead of an absolute universal time ticking at a constant rate we now have block time and retro-causality. If futurists were to update their picture of reality, how might it change the activity of future-gazing and even the future itself?
